Today, in a digital press conference Bharti Airtel confirms that they are 5G ready and they have done Airtel 5G test successfully over a commercial network in Hyderabad using a 1800MHz 5G band.

About the Airtel 5G test
Today Airtel successfully demonstrate a live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad. Airtel uses a 1,800MHz band to test the network. This band can allow users to operate both 5G & 4G simultaneously on its network. Today it tests on a Non-Standalone mode. Airtel partnered with Ericsson to deploy a 5G network over the existing 4G antennas. The mid-bands of 5G are 1800MHz, 2100MHz, and 2300MHz, and at the same time sub-GHz bands available at 800MHz and 900MHz. Airtel 5G test used a 1800MHz band.
For the Airtel 5G test demonstration in Hyderabad, this ISP provider used Oppo Reno 5 Pro & Oppo Find X2 Pro smartphones. Now the users who have 4G Airtel Sim have no need to upgrade to an Airtel 5G sim their existing sims will be enough to give you that 5G experience. From reports, there are 20 smartphones commercially available in India that are Airtel 5G ready, soon more to come. The Airtel 5G test will roll out commercially in the Q2 of 2021.

Airtel has done a great job and we may see 5G plans soon in Q2 of 2021. Jio also has announced they will start their 5G services also in Q2 of 2021.
