This is been so long since Samsung has teased its upcoming Exynos processor. On the second day at CES 2021 ( 12.01.2021 ), Samsung introduced its second chipset based on the 5nm process, Samsung Exynos 2100.
Performance
Samsung Exynos 2100 is made up of 8 CPUs which are built on tri-cluster architecture, 1x ARM Cortex X1 @ 2.9GHz, 3x ARM Cortex A78 @ 2.8GHz & 4x ARM Cortex A55 @ 2.2GHz cores. The new Samsung Exynos 2100 offers 33% more CPU performance in multi-core than the Samsung Exynos 990 & 19% more in single-core performance.
This is a flagship-level chipset so it has to be excellent at gaming performance. Samsung Exynos 2100 has the 14 core Mali-G78 GPU that offers over 40% better performance compared to the Exynos 990. On Samsung’s website, it is mentioned that ” The new AMIGO technology delivers stable frame rates, offering you an edge over the competition. ” AMIGO stands for Advanced Multi-IP Governor.
AI
Samsung clearly says the Samsung Exynos 2100 has a triple-core NPU, and with the combined improvements in CPU, GPU, DSP, and NPU, the chipset delivers 26 TOPS ( Trillion Operations per second ) performance, which is a significant jump from the 15 TOPS achieved by the Exynos 990. This is exactly the same as the Snapdragon 888’s AI performance, now the time will say who is better.
5G
The Samsung Exynos 2100 includes a 5G modem with the all-new carrier aggregation technology. The 5G modem is capable of capturing sub-6 GHz spectrums and the download speed goes up to 7.35Gbps, which is a little less than the Snapdragon 888’s downlink speed. The devices powered with Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset will be epic in connectivity and network segment.
Camera
The megapixel count is going up, the same for this chipset. Samsung told in the launch event that the ISP of Samsung Exynos 2100 can handle up to 200MP image sensors, & can able to handle 4 simultaneous streams, and a maximum of 6 image sensors can be connected. It also supports a powerful multi-format codec (MFC) and an advanced camera system, the Exynos 2100 enables video recording and playback at 8K resolution. The processor also supports HDR10+ codecs for highly vivid colors with enhanced dynamic range.
Display
The processor supports HDR10+ displays with up to 4K resolution. the displays can support up to 144 Hz refresh rate.
Privacy
In 2021 privacy became a major factor. And in this processor there is a separate memory protection unit that separates personal data from the OS environment. And the embedded secure element is something that Samsung already talked about in past.
Snapdragon 888 vs Exynos 2100
In past years Samsung has tried their best but every time Snapdragon wins the race but what about this time? In the previous year, Snapdragon 865 outperforms the Samsung Exynos 990.

Conclusion
Okay, it’s been amazing to see how Exynos processors are competing over their competitors. And this time the multicore performance is a little high than the Snapdragon 888. Not to worry the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event is on Tomorrow, and all the three Samsung flagships the S21 series will be powered with is the chipset.
