  1. Jamsetji Tata established an Express Mill in Nagpur, India to increase the self-reliance of the country and its people, before Independence.
  2. Dorabji Tata sponsored Indian Olympic team from his own finances to support and help the Indian athletes in 1920.
  3. He also made a hospital to help cancer patients. Tata memorial hospital serves more than 70% of its patients for free of cost.
  4. In 1932, JRD Tata got the first license for flights in India. He started Tata Airlines which is today called Air India.
  5. JRD Tata started Lakme that was one of the few cosmetic brands that considered Indian skin tones and preferences.
  6. Tata took over the task of Passport related services in India, coming to aid the government, which made the process easier and efficient.
  7. TCS or Tata Consultancy Services is credited to develop highly proficient softwares that are used by BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange).
  8. Tata bought Tetley, a British brand. Acquiring Tetley was a big thing at that time, for Tata was a third of Tetley, then.
  9. Ford acquired Tata when it was running in losses. When the situation became opposite, Tata too helped Ford and bought Jaguar and Land Rover.
  10. Ratan Tata donates sixty percent of his earnings, through different means, for public welfare, contributing his share towards society.

The former chairman of Tata Group, achiever of numerous accolades is today the person who is remembered for his down-to-earth nature. Ratan Tata recently completed 84 years of his life. On the occasion, the whole Tata Group celebrated, including all its employees. A video clip got viral of that day.
