In the Idea Exchange Programme of 2020 Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari said in a report of The Indian Express that US clean energy giant Tesla will “start operations” in India in early 2021. Thus Tesla India Launch confirmed. The first model will be Tesla Model 3 India.

But why Tesla ( Tesla India ) cars are not available in India?
Geographic condition

Tesla is a US company so it is obvious that the cars are designed for their specific roads, where particular lanes are there, particular parking spots are there. From April 2019 All Tesla models come with Autopilot pre-installed. In India, you can see painted lanes very often and there is no specific parking spot beside the roads or marked space, parking spots are where you can find a spot that is your parking spot. Even in major cities people often follow the speed limit and potholes speed breakers are a common thing on 50% of Indian roads.
But despite all of these one can drive a Tesla in Indian Roads. Then why Tesla is not available in India.?
Cost Factor & Indian Taxes

The base model of Tesla ( Tesla India ) costs around $39,990 which is around 29 Lakh Rupees without the custom duty, Shipping, GST charges. The biggest reason that Tesla did not enter the Indian market is because of the Indian government policies. For the cars which cost more than $40k or 30 lakh Indian rupees the Import tax is 100% and if the vehicle cost less than $40k then the import tax is 60% that means if anyone buys the Tesla Model 3 then one should pay $74,739 or 55 Lakh Indian Rupees 😱 ( Tesla Model 3 India )

Which model of Tesla ( Tesla India ) will come in India? & When?

Talking about Tesla Model 3 ( Tesla Model 3 India ) it has Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive that instantly controls traction and torque, in all weather conditions. Within 3.1 seconds Tesla Model 3 India goes from 0 to 60 mph ( miles per hour ) or 96 kmph. And the top speed is 160 mph or 260 kmph. It can go up to 353 miles in a single charge.
Conclusion
There is a lot of fan base of Tesla in India and maybe at the end of 2021, we will call it Tesla India. If the government policies were changed for EV manufacturers if the government waives taxes for them then they will commit to build the factories, the charging stations and that would be really amazing. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also told that India will become the world’s largest EV manufacturer within 2030. And if that happens then more people will afford EV cars that will help to control pollution as well the population of India may helpful for those companies. Everything starts from small changes ( Maybe Tesla India will be the first ) and hope so 2021 will be the year. Thanks for Reading.
I love to write.
